"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole. We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy."-- Ottmar Edenhofer, co-chair U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on Mitigation of Climate Change
"
I suspect that “human flourishing” to this fellow is not “progress,” at least as I understand it. I see progress in the scientific as well as cultural and political sense: better medicine, cooler media, faster information-distribution systems, more freedom, more prosperity, the spread of individual and property rights across the globe. I think he means “human flourishing” to mean everyone agrees to wear the same itchy hemp robe and chant the Happy Planet Song while we tote buckets of night soil to the communal plot."--James Lileks

G7 talks: Trump isolated over Paris climate change deal
"The US has refused to recommit to the agreement, saying it will make a decision next week.
Mr. Trump, who once dismissed global warming as a "hoax", has previously threatened to pull out of the accord.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the discussion on climate change had been "very unsatisfactory", adding "we have a situation of six against one".
Mr. Trump tweeted: "I will make my final decision on the Paris Accord next week!".......
And it's still a fraud, Mr. President. The only reason that one man is even deciding this is because it was an anti-Constitutional One-Man Treaty to begin with. Why? Because it was so bad that not even the squishy Senate would ever approve.
Bloomberg accidentally backs into some truth
here:
"This isn’t the first time the arrival of a radically different U.S. president has tested the club’s unity, according to John Kirton, director of the G-7 and G-8 Research Group, at the University of Toronto, recalling Ronald Reagan’s first such summit in 1981, in Canada.
Then, too, the other G-7 leaders saw the new U.S. leader of the free world “as on the far right, with little experience in foreign affairs,” said Kirton -- someone “who believed in the magic of the market place and that America would ride tall again in the saddle after the defeatism and weakness of his Democratic predecessor.’’
In the event, the expected fireworks failed to ignite. Reagan was in listening mode and against expectation agreed to attend a later United Nations event on the equivalent issue of the day to climate change: whether the rich north should aid poorer countries in the south.".......
That's right--they are equivalent because Climate Change isn't about Climate: it's about sending American money and sovereignty to foreign entities also.
And Reagan never bit.
Bloomberg continues:
"Reagan’s second summit is generally considered the least successful in G-7 history and could provide a cautionary tale. It descended into acrimony over U.S. opposition to proposals by the Soviet Union to build gas pipelines to Western Europe. The U.S. followed up by imposing sanctions that affected some of its G-7 allies.".......
It was the "least successful"--if you don't count liberating Eastern Europe, ending the Soviet Union and winning the Cold War. But other than that, a "cautionary tale". They never stop, do they? Just like the Weather!
Another Reagan-esque moment via Reagan speech-writer
Peter Robinson: "The parallel again is very striking. Jimmy Carter gave a speech at Notre Dame several years ago in which he warned Americans about the inordinate fear of communism, the notion that we have to learn to live with them, that they would be around for a long time, we’d be around for a long time. And Ronald Reagan came in and simply changed the way people thought about the matter. Likewise, once again, Barack Obama… engaged in a long retreat from the rest of the world and the rest of the world got more dangerous. Along comes Donald Trump, and say what you want about his speaking style, about this or that, the leaks. All of that is secondary. He is reasserting the American place in the world.".......
Trump is reversing Pres. B. Hussein Wiretapper's
"Acceptable Level of Terrorism"-Policy:
"Just keep your head down--you'll get used to it."
REAGAN AND TRUMP TO OUR ENEMIES:
"We Win, You Lose." aka "Victory", losers.
Just as
the entire Foreign Policy Establishment wanted to remove Robinson's
"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this Wall,"-line from Reagan's speech, they want to bend Trump to the Global Warming Cult. Reagan refused--and so should Trump.
|
"This Wall is coming down if I have to do it myself!"
Peter Robinson: "One day in 1977 Ronald Reagan asked Richard Allen, who would become his first national security adviser, if Mr. Allen would like to hear his theory of the Cold War. "Some people think I'm simplistic," Mr. Reagan said, "but there's a difference between being simplistic and being simple. My theory of the Cold War is that we win and they lose. What do you think about that?" |

“For a century, Edison's light bulb was regarded as a beacon of American genius; then it became a 'climate criminal." That transformation is American decline in a nutshell.”--Mark Steyn
Climate Change is not a problem; it's a solution. It was not discovered; it was invented.
Long before there was Climate Change (aka Global Warming aka Global Cooling aka "the weather"), the Left wanted to control industrial policy, raise taxes and shift American money, power and sovereignty to unaccountable international bureaucracies. But the voters wouldn't let them.
That's the "problem".
Solution: Climate Change.
Bingo! Problem solved! Suddenly, the weather dictates that we must enact all the Left's favorite Policies...OR THE PLANET WILL END IN 20 MINUTES!
Would the Left believe me if I suddenly "discovered" a climate phenomenon that demanded less regulation, lower taxes and Putting America First? Those are great ideas, but they don't make it snow or blow.
Obama just poured another $500 million down the UN Climate Rat-hole as a parting gift to the Transnational Blob. Could your community have used those funds to address real problems?
Too bad. Obama doesn't believe in your community. He believes in the UN.
Did you get to vote for the UN?
That's $500 million that will never solve actual pollution. It will disappear down the maw of the Blob, never to be seen again, to be spent on mistresses at the French Riviera and on wishful thinking that it will lower temperatures by a fraction.
Of a fraction.
Of a fraction.
A century from now.
Maybe.

When you read a science report claiming that 2016 was the hottest year on record, you might expect that you will get numbers. And you would be wrong. “Note to the New York Times: ‘trouncing’ and ‘blown past’ are phrases appropriate to sports reporting, not science reporting. Except that no sports reporter would dare write an article in which he never bothers to give you the score of the big game. . . . It’s almost like they’re hiding something. And that is indeed what we find.”
TLDR: Increase is one-hundredth of a degree. Margin of error is a tenth of a degree. So it’s all bullshit.".......
"But...but 97% of scientists agree!"
No they don't.
That bogus number includes scientists who vary from Full Cult Leaders to those who think Climate Change is just a footnote. And vary wildly on what should be done, if anything. It also includes a great number of scientists who get their funding directly or indirectly from politicians.
Big Oil scientists are dismissed as stooges because of their economic interest, but Big Government scientists are pure disinterested champions of truth and justice? I don't think so. Polling them is like polling a group of little kids with a microphone in one hand and a bag of candy in the other.
The Science isn't Settled. Only the politics are.
#That'sHowYouGotTrump.
Don't Go Wobbly Now, Mr. President.
