Some of you who grew up with this propaganda in your Saturday morning cartoons may have never heard this said, so consider this a trigger warning.
When I was a kid(tm), we had a thing called "weather". Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was bad. Sometimes we had dust bowls and hurricanes, sometimes we had rainfall and bumper crops. But we didn't worship the weather.
Back then, the Left wanted things they couldn't have. They wanted higher taxes. They wanted to transfer America's wealth and sovereignty to unaccountable international bodies like the UN. They wanted to completely control industrial policy, yet still have political deniability when their policies created impoverishment and slow growth. They wanted to propagandize schoolchildren, arrogating unto themselves the automatic moral high ground and the right not to have their motives questioned while questioning everyone else's. They wanted to silence dissent. But they couldn't have these things--a free people would never consent to them.
And, miracle of miracles, "science" came along and "discovered" Climate Change, and poof! all their goals are realized! It's the damnedest coincidence in history!
What are the odds that science just happens to "discover" the magic keys that fortuitously unlock the Left's Political Wish List? It's just as unlikely as your Bar-B-Cue grill affecting sea levels a century from now. And even if their protocols were implemented, they admit that temperatures wouldn't change by more than a fraction. Of a fraction. Of a fraction. It's about control, not results. It's not "man-made"--it's Manufactured.
They say "The Science is Settled! The Science is Settled!"
No, but the science funding is pretty well settled. And it goes to the Agree-ers. Turns out, you can create a fair amount of "consensus" by funding and recognizing the Received Wisdom Pre-Approved by the State. I'm not saying all those scientists are bought, but they are all human. And funded by other humans with a Vested Interest in the Correct Result.
Everyone wants a fat paycheck, to be recognized, to be told their work is important, even vital to the survival of the planet. And computer models of events a century away are so nebulous as to be fiction-ish. But all the incentives are as real as Buffy's orthodontist bill.
Speaking of nebula, did you know Global Warming causes asteroids?
Also acne, killer jellyfish attacks, cannibalism, depressed pets, melting mammoth dung, deaf polar bears, more hurricanes, less hurricanes and Hitler?
When Global Warming causes Everything, then Everything causes Global Warming! It is the Unprovable Thesis; if everything proves it, nothing does. It is the clean, well-lit room of One Idea. And that room is a padded cell at the Al Gore Wing of the Tennessee State Prison for the Criminally Insane.
Which is where Climate Sharia Imam Al Gore wishes to put those who disagree with him, first by calling them Climate Deniers to equate them with Nazi and Islamist Holocaust Deniers, and then to prosecute them, ironically in the Nazi/Islamist style. Failing that, Big Climate is happy to eco-harass, like they did to Gibson guitars, while leaving Martin guitars unscathed for the exact same actions, an ill-defined and ever-shifting menu of offenses against the Trees. The real difference: Gibson made the wrong political contributions, Martin made the "right" ones.
I sometimes call this The War on Weather as a way of pointing out the stupidity and futility of the exercise. But Climate Change is not about the weather.
It's the same old issue. Manufactured Climate Change is about freedom--and how to take it away from you.
Climate Fascism is still Fascism.
"The "hockey stick" graph of global temperatures over the last bazillion years is the single most influential icon in the global-warming debate, gleefully seized on by the UN's transnational climate jet set, heavily promoted by Al Gore's Oscar-winning crockumentary, tirelessly used by governments around the world to sell the Kyoto Accord to their citizens, and taught as "incontrovertible" "settled science" to impressionable schoolchildren around the world from kindergarten to graduation. Mann's hockey stick told the simplest of stories: climate-wise nothing happened for nine hundred years until suddenly, in the 20th century, the mercury took off and shot up through the top right-hand corner of the graph - and now we're all gonna fry.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, the global-warming "pause" is about to enter its third decade, which suggests it may all be a bit more complicated than that. And yet Mann's cartoon science was so effective as propaganda that the Big Climate enforcers cannot renounce it.
You'd never know from all the constant bleating about "the 97 per cent consensus" that Michael E Mann and his hockey stick are, in fact, held in very low regard by many of the world's most eminent scientists. I was a bit surprised myself - until I noticed how few scientists were prepared to support him and I started to dig around."..............
"If I just move this little decimal point, no one will ever know. What harm could it possibly do? It's for a good cause--Al Gore says I'm even saving the planet! And who's going to check my work a century from now? But if I don't manipulate the data, I won't get a paid vacation...for the rest of my life! Say, I wonder if that little red-head is going to be at the beach house next door this summer..."
