"We're going to protect Christianity, and I can say that. I don't have to be politically correct. We're going to protect it. You know, and I asked Jerry and I asked some of the folks because I hear this is a major theme right here, but Two Corinthians, 3:17, that's the whole ball game. 'Where the spirit of the Lord', right, 'Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.'"--Donald Trump at Liberty University, getting the nomenclature wrong but the spirit right.
Hillary Clinton wouldn't have messed up the words. And wouldn't have meant a single word of it, either. Which is better?
Victor Davis Hanson: "What was the Clinton telos? The end point, the aim of all their lying, cheating, criminality, dishonor, and degradation?...
Collate the FBI reopened investigation, WikiLeaks Podesta trove, revelations about the Clinton Foundation, the e-mail–server scandal, the DNC disclosures, and the various off-the-cuff campaign remarks of Bill and Hillary Clinton, and one then ponders what was the point of the Clinton shakedowns, the loss of reputation, the crude lawbreaking, as they neared their seventh decade. To paraphrase Barack Obama, in his progressive sermonizing on making enough money, did the two ever think they had enough money, enough honors, enough power already?...
A Hillary presidency would give the Clintons unprecedented Peronist-like power, in a manner unlike any couple in American history. Of course, the Clintons are not only corrupt but cynical as well. They accept that the progressive media, the foundations, the universities, the bureaucracies, Hollywood, and Silicon Valley honor power more than trendy left-wing politics; they well understand that their fans will, for them, make the necessary adjustments to contextualize Clinton criminality or amorality. Sexual predations, the demonization of women, graft, and unequal protection under the law are also of no consequence to the inbred, conflicted, and morally challenged media – who will always check in with the Clinton team, like errant dogs who scratch the backdoor of their master after a periodic runaway. ...
They have long ago lost any sense of shame — Bill is hourly caricatured as a sexual predator, and the best that can be said of Hillary’s character is that the bankrupt Left shrugs, “She may be a crook, but she’s our crook.” In Dorian Gray fashion, their sins are now imprinted on their faces and visible in their tremors. They were and are capable of any and everything. And one wonders whether, in fleeting seconds here at the end of things, they still believe that it was all worth what they have become.".......
Mark Steyn: "Unlike Obama, Hillary is not a committed ideologue: There is no policy end she desires, there is only an urge to power, with policy and platforms as a discreet veiling of that urge. Her tin-eared phrase for the rest of you losers - "everyday Americans" - underlines the distance between the rulers and the ruled. Her replacement slogan - "Stronger Together" - translates to "Get with the program", but the program is mere set-dressing. Trump is demonized as a Caesar - the strong man as embodiment of the state - but in fact his rise was driven by highly specific policies: build the wall, end mass Muslim immigration, make health insurance purchasable across state lines. Trump is inviting you to vote for something; Clinton to vote for someone: With Hillary, power and authority are all, and public policy is simply collateral damage. A Clintonian restoration, born of politically-derailed criminal investigation, industrial-scale charities fraud and a foreign policy for sale to dictators, would see a massive acceleration of the already appalling and debilitating levels of political corruption in America - because there is nothing else.

Victor Davis Hanson never quite answers it, but what do Bill and Hillary have to show for it? In the wake of Brexit, I found myself thinking of my old Munk debate partner Nigel Farage. Nigel has never held high office: he will never be Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer or anything else. But he has accomplished more than anybody who has held those offices in the last quarter-century. Twenty years ago, he set out to reverse the principal thrust of post-war British policy (foreign and domestic) - and he did. Whether you agree with it or not, that's an accomplishment; that's a reason to go into politics.
The Clintons? Hillary got rich, Bill got laid, republican virtue got screwed. Like the sickly leaders of late-Soviet politburos, both appear older and feebler than their years: once the star performer of the double-act, Bill staggers around like the Blowjob of Dorian Gray; the life has all but literally been sucked out of him. His straight-woman, once the reliably stolid, stone-faced Margaret Dumont of his cigar-waggling routine, now has to be propped up on street bollards and fed lines by her medical staff. When she shuts down and she's out cold, who's driving the pantsuit? Huma? Cheryl? Podesta? Bill and Hillary have been consumed by their urges. America would be electing the Walking Dead, insatiable and fatal to the touch, but utterly hollow." ........
The Z-Man: "The argument from Team Trump in the closing days of the election is that Hillary Clinton is too corrupt to rule. He’s painting her as the face of the larger problem, which is the metastasizing corruption of the ruling class. It’s a good closing argument and it resonates, but the reason Hillary should not rule is she is dangerously incompetent and she surrounds herself with outlandishly stupid people. A society can survive crooked rulers, but it cannot survive stupid ones. Hillary Clinton is too stupid to rule.".......
I take the Z-Man's point. When you look at the spectacular ineptness of her Libya Debacle, her signature policy, the stupidity shines through. She wanted to conquer Qaddafi in order to make a campaign commercial about how tough she was--except Qaddafi had already surrendered to George W. Bush years earlier. Instead, she gave the bullets to the terrorists who killed her own ambassador, kept hitting "snooze" on her 3 a.m. call because Obama's reelection was premised on his having already achieved Victory over Terrorism (hence all the "video did it!" lies)--and she turned Libya into the Resort Where ISIS Goes for Spring Break.
Then there is the stupidity of Granny Can't Figure Out This New-Fangled Inter-Web Blueberry-Thingy. Or is that merely the laziness of Having Gotten Away With It For So Long Means We Will Always Get Away With It?
However, the Clintons' crookedness has metastasized to such a point that national survival might be put in question, especially after eight years of Obama's treasonous Pre-Emptive Surrender. The Reagan-Era seed corn is gone. Obama is rebuilding the nuclear Iranian military out of affinity, while the Clintons sold China whatever they wanted and gave North Korea the Bomb, possibly out of blackmail. Even stupidity and greed can't explain it.
Hillary wants to be president to "Be Somebody". Trump already is somebody and wants to be of service.
Hillary wants to Get $omething. Trump wants to Get Something Done:
Drain the Swamp, Fix CoerciveCare, Get Control of Our Borders, End One-Sided Trade Deals, Rebuild our Cities and Infrastructure, Appoint Judges, not Super-Legislators, End the War on Cops, the War on the Military and the War on Prosperity.
Hillary wants to cash in. And boss people around.
Two Corinthians walk into a polling place. And they both vote for Donald Trump because
Liberty!
