By "compassion", Comrade Bernie means we haven't given the government all of our paychecks and property to be divvied up by the wise and benevolent State.
That is the Venezuela model, where they are now eating out of dumpsters--but equally! Except at the Presidential Palace, of course--some animals being more equal than others. And all because somebody--maybe Bernie!--gave Castro a copy of Das Kapital 70 years ago.
