The Democrats' Three-Tiered Justice System:
One System For Regular Americans, A Better One For Illegal Foreigners...and the Very Best One of All Just For the Clintons!
The Baltimore Sun:
The Baltimore State's Attorney's Office has instructed prosecutors to think twice before charging illegal immigrants with minor, non-violent crimes in response to stepped up immigration enforcement by the Trump administration.
Chief Deputy State's Attorney Michael Schatzow, in a memo sent to all staff Thursday and obtained by The Baltimore Sun, wrote that the Justice Department's deportation efforts "have increased the potential collateral consequences to certain immigrants of minor, non-violent criminal conduct."
"In considering the appropriate disposition of a minor, non-violent criminal case, please be certain to consider those potential consequences to the victim, witnesses, and the defendant," Schatzow wrote.
Prosecutors declined to discuss the memo. ...
The Justice Department declined to comment on the Baltimore memo. But in remarks Friday on Long Island, Sessions decried district attorneys who he said "openly brag about not charging cases appropriately – giving special treatment to illegal aliens to ensure these criminal aliens aren't deported from their communities.
"They advertise that they will charge a criminal alien with a lesser offense than presumably they would charge a United States citizen. It baffles me," Sessions said.
The comments appeared to be in response to the acting district attorney in Brooklyn, N.Y., who earlier this week issued similar instruction to prosecutors there. "We must ensure that a conviction, especially for a minor offense, does not lead to unintended and severe consequences like deportation, which can be unfair, tear families apart and destabilize our communities and businesses," Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in an announcement Monday.
Gonzalez went a step further, hiring two immigration attorneys to train staff on immigration issues and to advise prosecutors when making plea offers and sentencing recommendations "in an effort to avoid disproportionate collateral consequences."...
Baltimore Police said that just as they are not asking for proof of citizenship, they will not take that into account when investigating crime.
"That would put us right back in the situation where we are making a judgment based on someone's immigration status," said spokesman T.J. Smith. "We're not going to do that."
Police Commissioner Kevin Davis has expressed concern about immigrants not reporting crimes or cooperating with investigations because they fear repercussions related to their status, and has attended community meetings stressing that police won't make immigration checks.
Schatzow, in the State's Attorney's Office memo, noted such concerns, saying fear of being deported could "impair our effectiveness in combating violent crimes and criminals."
There are so many things wrong with this, I'm going to have to number them.
1.) You can't trust Democrats on "non-violent" offenses. That's what Gov. Jerry Brown said to get Proposition 57 passed in California--and he unleashed a Democrat Crime Wave on the state. "If you check Prop 57, the majority of ["non-violent"] criminals [released] there are sex offenders, child molesters, human trafficking, sex with minors, assault with a deadly weapon," Fabio said.
2.) All major criminals commit minor crimes, too. If you don't charge them for the minor crimes, they'll be out, free to commit felonies. And the permissiveness only encourages them further.
3.) "consider those potential consequences to the victim, witnesses, and the defendant," Schatzow wrote." He just threw in "victim" and "witnesses" to hide the word "defendant". This is all about defendants. Is their no end to their amnesties?
4.) If only they showed this much concern for following the law as they do for subverting the law. If only they cooperated with our own government like they cooperate with illegal aliens.
5.) "Police Commissioner Kevin Davis has expressed concern about immigrants not reporting crimes"--Are they going to report crimes when they know you won't prosecute those crimes? Why would they stick their necks out for nothing?
6.) If two people break the same law, but one of them broke even more laws to come here and commit a crime, how do you therefore treat him better than the other? It's exactly backwards.
7.) And if you're going to treat foreigners better than you treat your own citizens, how is that not a Civil Rights violation; discrimination based on National Origin?
This is what you get by trying to subvert the laws and have different justice systems. That's what Jim Crow did. The DA Mosby already mangled the law in the Baltimore Riot Debacle, grandstanding for the mobs, railroading the police and generally doing what Democrats do: running every major city in America into a ditch.
The Left was able to force the redefinition of marriage on the vast majority of unwilling states by using a few court decisions as a crowbar. This is what Open Borders advocates are trying to do. They are trying to normalize the redefinition of borders and citizenship and give every local official the federal power of granting citizenship. This must be stopped before it snowballs, too.
There are two ways to destroy something; shrink it into nothingness or expand it into meaninglessness. They hope to expand American citizenship to everyone in the world, thus dissolving America. If everything and everyone is American, nothing and nobody is.
This was already tried--at the Tower of Babel. Their dystopian vision fully realized would look a lot like the UN General Assembly; Anti-Semitism everywhere, The sucking the economic life-blood out of the West, Saudis running Women's' Rights, Iran in charge of Human Rights, Russia and China vetoing everything and monstrous, unaccountable bureaucracies as far as the eye is permitted to see. And Seeing-Eye Permits are not permitted.
If you don't think it can happen, just ask a Seneca or a Cherokee. But not a Senate Cherokee.
Just because they've abandoned America, we haven't. Multi-tiered justice is just the start. And that's why it must be stopped.
Now.
