As Symbols are Twisted, Is Britain Being De-Consecrated?
"As I watched King Charles III’s coronation, I had a creeping sense — as perhaps many did — of what Dr Sigmund Freud called, in a paper by that name, “Das Unheimliche” — or the “uncanny”. That is the sense of unease one has when something strange is located in the familiar; when there are subliminally disturbing inversions, doublings, or reversals; and when unease is stirred by one’s subconscious becoming aware of ordinary reality going awry.
First there were the odd discordancies.
There were the black horses ostensibly in formation — yet at times dramatically out of step; the soldiers in black busbies with their alignments of arms and legs directly out of rhythm with one another; a lonely redcoat walking in the opposite direction of everyone else (see below), a red-coated soldier collapsing (which seems to happen regularly now at these events, and other unnerving deviations from traditional display of discipline, order and symmetry.
But leaving those aberrations aside — why were a number of key female attendees, in shapeless, Druid-like, white gowns?
This is entirely aberrant.
What was familiar about the scene?
If you look at images of Druidic gatherings, you will see women (and men) in long, loose white robes; you will see capes. You will see wreaths, like the kind that Princess Kate, Princess Sophia and Princess Charlotte wore, though in fresh leaves and flowers rather than in gemstones and feathers. Druidic Britain is a pre-Christian Britain, in which nature - groves, springs, rocks, trees — is worshipped, rather than Jesus Christ, or the Judeo-Christian God. This is a Druidic ceremony at Stonehenge, below. (Druidism has been a state-sanctioned religion formally in Britain since 2013.)
Weird is the introduction of an elaborate “privacy screen” behind which the anointing of the Monarch took place. Here is a video (similar ones are not easy to locate online) that reaches to the point of Queen Elizabeth’s anointing. We can hear the invocation clearly as she is anointed — head, hands and breast. While we do not see the anointing, which may indeed have been covered by a golden canopy, we hear it clearly; she does not appear to leave the presence of the assembled crowd. She is asked to defend God and the Church; the anointing is described in real time; the word “God” is audibly invoked multiple times.
In contrast, the anointing is drowned out as well as unseen, in King Charles’ coronation.
This moment now is not audible, and thus far less transparent to the nation, than was the same moment when King Charles’ mother underwent the same consecration. Indeed, the lovely sound of the choir singing Handel’s “Zadok the Priest” entirely drowns out the words of this recent anointing...
This may seem like an extreme concern to raise — but is any concern extreme these days? If British subjects cannot hear their King’s Anointing — it is literally drowned out, starting at two minutes in, in the clip above, by the robust choir — how do they know what has been said? It could be anything — or nothing.

Even the motto that King Charles chose is — slightly off. He has chosen a famous quote from the mystic (again, the Catholic mystic) Julian of Norwich — which is embroidered, on a scroll that looks a bit like — a snake, at the foot of what I call the “Anointing Screen”’s Tree of Life (though it is called by Royal.uk, a “Tree of Commonwealth”).
But the quote is wrong. The words the site mis-quote are not Julian of Norwich’s words. They are the words of Jesus Christ, according to Julian of Norwich. So the King’s quote misquotes — according to the author — Jesus.
Then there is this image, above. Entirely tempering or countering his role as head of the Church of England, at the climax of the Coronation, a half dozen representatives of other faiths surround him. The Greek Orthodox priest, the Roman Catholic priest — the Rabbi? And others, all stand, while King Charles is seated. They do not appear as subjects, in a tableau of inclusion, which would be less odd. Rather they surround King Charles from positions of dominance — in a faintly intimidating display of participation in this ritual, or even of religious assertiveness.
This is something — else.
There are other phrases that are new, or wrong. There is no such thing, I will wager, as a “rod of equity and mercy” because that word “equity” is novel in the sense in which it is meant here; “equity” has only had the meaning that WEF types imposed upon it, since just a few years ago.
I won’t even go deeply into the weirdness of the balcony scene, which took place after the coronation was all over. Why are these preadolescent boys arranged in this cadre in this way? ... the iconography of this moment in the past did not, to my knowledge, include an aggregation, a lineup, of eight or ten 10-13-year-old boys.
And this deviation from tradition aligns with other tradition-, family-, and even gender-blurring moments: Princess Anne dressed, for instance, in male clothing; and a female official dressed in the masculine garb of the past, carrying the train of a male official, also in ceremonial dress.
Do we not need our good magic, our consecration to a God with whom we are familiar, with whom we have a history? Do we not need transparent, time-honored rituals of service to nation and people?
Do we not need to know whom we actually are?".......

Ah, but what would that bard know of mercy faced with the reckoning at the dawn of your historic reign? After all, one can truly know the measure of a society by how it treats its prisoners, and your kingdom has surely excelled in that regard.
Your Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh is located at the prestigious address of One Western Way, London, just a short foxhunt from the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. How delightful it must be to have such an esteemed establishment bear your name.It is here that 687 of your loyal subjects are held, supporting the United Kingdom’s record as the nation with the largest prison population in Western Europe. As your noble government has recently declared, your kingdom is currently undergoing “the biggest expansion of prison places in over a century”, with its ambitious projections showing an increase of the prison population from 82,000 to 106,000 within the next four years. Quite the legacy, indeed.
As a political prisoner, held at Your Majesty’s pleasure on behalf of an embarrassed foreign sovereign, I am honoured to reside within the walls of this world class institution. Truly, your kingdom knows no bounds.
During your visit, you will have the opportunity to feast upon the culinary delights prepared for your loyal subjects on a generous budget of two pounds per day. Savour the blended tuna heads and the ubiquitous reconstituted forms that are purportedly made from chicken. And worry not, for unlike lesser institutions such as Alcatraz or San Quentin, there is no communal dining in a mess hall. At Belmarsh, prisoners dine alone in their cells, ensuring the utmost intimacy with their meal.
Beyond the gustatory pleasures, I can assure you that Belmarsh provides ample educational opportunities for your subjects. As Proverbs 22:6 has it: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Observe the shuffling queues at the medicine hatch, where inmates gather their prescriptions, not for daily use, but for the horizon-expanding experience of a “big day out”—all at once.
You will also have the opportunity to pay your respects to my late friend Manoel Santos, a gay man facing deportation to Bolsonaro’s Brazil, who took his own life just eight yards from my cell using a crude rope fashioned from his bedsheets. His exquisite tenor voice now silenced forever.
Venture further into the depths of Belmarsh and you will find the most isolated place within its walls: Healthcare, or “Hellcare” as its inhabitants lovingly call it. Here, you will marvel at sensible rules designed for everyone’s safety, such as the prohibition of chess, whilst permitting the far less dangerous game of checkers.
Deep within Hellcare lies the most gloriously uplifting place in all of Belmarsh, nay, the whole of the United Kingdom: the sublimely named Belmarsh End of Life Suite. Listen closely, and you may hear the prisoners’ cries of “Brother, I’m going to die in here”, a testament to the quality of both life and death within your prison.
But fear not, for there is beauty to be found within these walls. Feast your eyes upon the picturesque crows nesting in the razor wire and the hundreds of hungry rats that call Belmarsh home. And if you come in the spring, you may even catch a glimpse of the ducklings laid by wayward mallards within the prison grounds. But don’t delay, for the ravenous rats ensure their lives are fleeting.
I implore you, King Charles, to visit His Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh, for it is an honour befitting a king. As you embark upon your reign, may you always remember the words of the King James Bible: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matthew 5:7). And may mercy be the guiding light of your kingdom, both within and without the walls of Belmarsh.

"I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again … without fear of contradiction and because it must be repeated until enough people realise the significance … it is only and always the people that are sovereign.
Today we watched and listened as King Charles III promised to govern according to the law, which is to say our ancient common law. He thereby promised to defend our sovereignty as individuals and the sovereignty of this Britain.
Implicit in his promise before God is that he understands and believes that Britain is sovereign and that he, as monarch, will keep it so. Untroubled by the interference of outsiders great and small.
Not to put too fine a point on it, by outsiders great and small I mean the usual suspects … the WEF, the UN, the WHO and the rest of the international acronym gangs.
Those are unelected, unaccountable bodies, all seeking a hand in ruling over this country and all countries. Under the terms of an amended pandemic preparedness treaty, the WHO would award itself jaw-dropping powers.
It proposes to empower itself to declare pandemics or states of climate emergency – and then to lock us down and impose whatever other restrictions on our freedom that they see fit.
This is what I mean about profound importance.
By his coronation oath King Charles swore to maintain the integrity of Britain and to protect that integrity against any external entity. He promised that we would remain free. So far so sovereign … but all of this begs a question:
Are we a sovereign people or not?
Are we still an independent entity with meaningful borders and supported by the commitment of our government to maintain the independence and sovereignty that our monarch swore to defend this afternoon?
I ask this question because, considering what has been going on in recent years, a person would be forgiven for doubting that nation states, in the West at least, are still a thing.
Today of all days … coronation day … it seems appropriate to think about all this.
If we are free people, of the sort King Charles just swore to defend, according to our law, if there are any nation states in the West, why did we so recently listen to that Charles, then Prince of Wales and heir to the throne, talk about how we should build back better?
In the same days and weeks that the Prince of Wales talked about the need to build back better. So did one western leader after another.
If this is a world of independent sovereign states … how on earth did it come to pass that they all, apparently, had the same thought, called for the same things, at exactly the same time, as though they were in lockstep and reading from the same script?
And if there was a script for the leaders of the West … who wrote it? Build back better … a narrow window of opportunity … the great reset … how come so many leaders of allegedly sovereign nations spoke the same words at the same time?
King Charles, when he was Prince of Wales, stood shoulder to shoulder with those calling for the Great Reset … Build Back Better. He has undoubtedly been an outspoken globalist committed to the notion of centralised control and decision making.
Today he swore an oath to govern according to the law of this land of Britain, this sovereign nation of Britain. Promises matter.
As I have already said, what matters most is not what a person says. What matters more is what a person does. Net Zero… Digital ID… CBDCs… social credit scores… surveillance societies… 15-minute cities… the policies pursued by all those unelected, unaccountable bodies… all of those are erosions of our freedom.
It turns out building back better isn’t better at all – not for the likes of you and me.
I have no time at all for republicanism, by the way. Elected heads of state … which almost inevitably means ex-politicians. That way lies President Blair … President Johnson … President Starmer.
The fundamental problem … and threat … of politicians as heads of state is that they are creatures of the politics from which they spring … like gargoyles on the walls of a cathedral.
In an imperfect world populated by imperfect people, I would make the Hobson’s Choice of a constitutional monarchy every time.
The point of a monarchy … of hereditary peers as well … is that they are … theoretically at least … invested in the long term. Governments come and go … with their egos, petty point scoring and manifestos … focused always on political expediency … the hope of winning the next election.
But for good or ill the upper house and the monarch are supposed to consider the impact fifty years from now, a hundred years from now. Theoretically they see to the planting of the trees that will provide the necessary shade for our great grandchildren.
Any government will, given the freedom to do so, draft legislation that will enable it to do whatever it wants. Any government will put itself in a position from which it cannot be challenged or removed.
There’s another question worth considering: should a government have the power to do what it wants … or not?
If you think not … then it’s worth looking again at what was attempted by that parliament of 1688 … when the most ambitious clique in the land seized the opportunity to put itself above the monarch … and therefore above all of us.
Long ago, long before Magna Carta or any other written document, our ancestors understood that individual freedoms were paramount.
The constitution that evolved here in Britain, making us a nation of sovereign individuals, reflected that ancient wisdom.Governments can seek to paper over it all they want … to tell us this or that part of the constitution has been superseded by an Act of Parliament. They can even pretend the constitution is not there. They can distract us with marching bands, bunting and flags.
But the fact remains … and today of all days it is worth remembering … if not shouting from the rooftops … we are free people. That much is inalienable and undeniable. If a coronation like today’s is to mean anything at all, then it reaffirms that freedom … and promises it will last forever.
So I ask again: are we a constitutional monarchy – in a way that means anything – or are we not? Are we a democracy – and having the vote every few years is not democracy in any meaningful sense – or are we not?
People will tell you we don’t have a constitution here in Britain. In the US, people hold up their constitution like Captain America’s shield. In the end, you might even say no constitution is required. In the end, it’s about right and wrong. Truth and lies. And we all know the difference.
But our constitution does exist and it carefully puts ultimate power beyond the reach of government or any other usurper. Our constitution enshrines ultimate power where it belongs … with the people.
To anyone who says our constitution was superseded by the act of any government, I ask:
Do you accept a government can gather unto itself the power to do whatever it likes?
If the answer is yes, then I say that you accept despotism and tyranny. Here’s the thing: I want someone somewhere to respect us enough to tell us the truth about Britain today. Then we’ll know where we stand.
Do the powers that be truly regard us as free people, living in a sovereign nation, or do they not? Today of all days, it’s not too much ask." .......[link]
