Chesterton on Pacifism, War, Turnips and Progress

G.K. Chesterton on Pacifism and War:

"The cheapest and most childish of all the taunts of the Pacifists is, I think, the sneer at belligerents for appealing to the God of Battles. It is ludicrously illogical, for we obviously have no right to kill for victory save when we have a right to pray for it. If a war is not a holy war, it is an unholy one--a massacre."

"I cannot see how we can literally end War unless we can end Will. I cannot think that war will ever be utterly impossible; and I say so not because I am what these people call a militarist, but rather because I am a revolutionist. Absolutely to forbid fighting is to forbid what our fathers called 'the sacred right of insurrection'. Against some decisions no self-respecting men can be prevented from appealing to fortune and to death."

"...war, like weather, cannot in itself be either criminal or saintly; and war as an action undertaken by certain persons may be either one or the other. Only in a state of fallen intelligence akin to fetish-worship could [we] ever have dropped into the habit of talking about the 'wickedness of war'."

"...that all war is physically frightful is obvious; but if that were a moral verdict, there would be no difference between a torturer and a surgeon."

The American Chesterton Society:

"Throughout his career, Chesterton was a vigorous enemy of pacifism. What he did believe in was the right, or the duty rather, of self-defense and the defense of others.

Chesterton was also a vigorous enemy of militarism. Both ideas, he argued, were really a single idea -- that the strong must not be resisted. The militarist, he said, uses this idea aggressively as a conqueror, as a bully. The pacifist uses the idea passively by acquiescing to the conqueror and permitting himself and others around him to be bullied. Of the two, Chesterton thought the pacifist far less admirable. In fact, the pacifist, for him, was "the last and least excusable on the list of the enemies of society."

"They preach that if you see a man flogging a woman to death you must not hit him. I would much sooner let a leper come near a little boy than a man who preached such a thing."

This should not be understood as a lust for fighting. "The horror of war," Chesterton wrote, "is the sentiment of a Christian and even of a saint." But in refusing to strike any blow, pacifists announce their readiness to surrender the higher ideals of "liberty, self-government, justice, and religion."" .......

"Does anybody in the world believe that a soldier says, 'My leg is nearly dropping off, but I shall go on till it drops; for after all I shall enjoy all the advantages of my government obtaining a warm-water port in the Gulf of Finland.' Can anybody suppose that a clerk turned conscript says, 'If I am gassed I shall probably die in torments, but it is a comfort to reflect that should I ever decide to become a pearl-diver in the South Seas, that career is now open to me and my countrymen.' Materialist history is the most madly incredible of all histories, or even of all romances. Whatever starts wars, the thing that sustains wars is something in the soul; that is something akin to religion. It is what men feel about life and about death. A man near to death is dealing directly with an absolute; it is nonsense to say he is concerned only with relative and remote complications that death in any case will end. If he is sustained by certain loyalties, they must be loyalties as simple as death. They are generally two ideas, which are only two sides of one idea. The first is the love of something said to be threatened, if it be only vaguely known as home; the second is dislike and defiance of some strange thing that threatens it. The first is far more philosophical than it sounds, though we need not discuss it here. A man does not want his national home destroyed or even changed, because he cannot even remember all the good things that go with it; just as he does not want his house burnt down, because he can hardly count all the things he would miss. Therefore he fights for what sounds like a hazy abstraction, but is really a house. But the negative side of it is quite as noble as well as quite as strong. Men fight hardest when they feel that the foe is at once an old enemy and an eternal stranger, that his atmosphere is alien and antagonistic, as the French feel about the Prussian or the Eastern Christians about the Turk. If we say it is a difference of religion, people will drift into dreary bickerings about sects and dogmas. We will pity them and say it is a difference about death and daylight; a difference that does really come like a dark shadow between our eyes and the day. Men can think of this difference even at the point of death; for it is a difference about the meaning of life.

Men are moved in these things by something far higher and holier than policy; by hatred. When men hung on in the darkest days of the Great War, suffering either in their bodies or in their souls for those they loved, they were long past caring about details of diplomatic objects as motives for their refusal to surrender. Of myself and those I knew best I can answer for the vision that made surrender impossible. It was the vision of the German Emperor's face as he rode into Paris. This is not the sentiment which some of my idealistic friends describe as Love. I am quite content to call it hatred; the hatred of hell and all its works, and to agree that as they do not believe in hell they need not believe in hatred. But in the face of this prevalent prejudice, this long introduction has been unfortunately necessary, to ensure an understanding of what is meant by a religious war. There is a religious war when two worlds meet; that is when two visions of the world meet; or in more modern language when two moral atmospheres meet. What is the one man's breath is the other man's poison; and it is vain to talk of giving a pestilence a place in the sun. And this is what we must understand, even at the expense of digression, if we would see what really happened in the Mediterranean; when right athwart the rising of the Republic on the Tiber, a thing overtopping and disdaining it, dark with all the riddles of Asia and trailing all the tribes and dependencies of imperialism, came Carthage riding on the sea." -- G.K. Chesterton, 'The Everlasting Man'

"The vice of the modern notion of mental progress is that it is always something concerned with the breaking of bonds, the effacing of boundaries, the casting away of dogmas. But if there be such a thing as mental growth, it must mean the growth into more and more definite convictions, into more and more dogmas. The human brain is a machine for coming to conclusions; if it cannot come to conclusions it is rusty. When we hear of a man too clever to believe, we are hearing of something having almost the character of a contradiction in terms. It is like hearing of a nail that was too good to hold down a carpet; or a bolt that was too strong to keep a door shut. Man can hardly be defined, after the fashion of Carlyle, as an animal who makes tools; ants and beavers and many other animals make tools, in the sense that they make an apparatus. Man can be defined as an animal that makes dogmas. As he piles doctrine on doctrine and conclusion on conclusion in the formation of some tremendous scheme of philosophy and religion, he is, in the only legitimate sense of which the expression is capable, becoming more and more human. When he drops one doctrine after another in a refined scepticism, when he declines to tie himself to a system, when he says that he has outgrown definitions, when he says that he disbelieves in finality, when, in his own imagination, he sits as God, holding no form of creed but contemplating all, then he is by that very process sinking slowly backwards into the vagueness of the vagrant animals and the unconsciousness of the grass. Trees have no dogmas. Turnips are singularly broad-minded."--G.K. Chesterton, Heretics

“Progress is a useless word; for progress takes for granted an already defined direction:
and it is exactly about the direction that we disagree.”

TALLER Ants For Tolerance!

 Archbishop Chaput:

"...Tolerance is not a Christian virtue. Charity, justice, mercy, prudence, honesty -- these are Christian virtues. And obviously, in a diverse community, tolerance is an important working principle. But it's never an end itself. In fact, tolerating grave evil within a society is itself a form of serious evil. Likewise, democratic pluralism does not mean that Catholics should be quiet in public about serious moral issues because of some misguided sense of good manners. A healthy democracy requires vigorous moral debate to survive. Real pluralism demands that people of strong beliefs will advance their convictions in the public square -- peacefully, legally and respectfully, but energetically and without embarrassment. Anything less is bad citizenship and a form of theft from the public conversation." .......

"Immunity" by Jeff Childers

 ☕️ BAD LUCK ☙ Friday, April 26, 2024 ☙ C&C NEWS 🦠 (coffeeandcovid.com)--Jeff Childers:

“ Before leaving the Supreme Court story, I’d like to briefly point out a few things that exasperate me about the discussion of presidential immunity. I’m only a commercial litigation attorney, not a constitutional scholar, and nobody listens to me, but during the entire two hours of oral argument and hundreds of probing Supreme Court questions, it struck me the Justices were largely missing the point.

All nine Justices, including the liberals, seemed shocked by the concept of absolute presidential immunity. Like me, you’ve probably heard the media’s vomitous, broken-record jargon until your ears were bleeding: “nobody is above the law.” Really? Is that true?

Let’s start with judges. Judges are immune. If a judge makes a mistake, and an innocent person goes to the electric chair, what happens? Nothing. Even if the judge intentionally railroaded the defendant because of racial bias or for any other reason, what happens? Nothing.

How about Congressmen? Congressmen are immune. If they start a war that gets thousands of Americans killed, for illegal reasons (Wag the Dog), what happens? Nothing. (Critics will yap about bribery. So what? How many successful prosecutions have there been? At best, which is a stretch, bribery prosecutions only show a limited exception to Congress’ broad, general immunity.)

How about City Commissioners? City Commissioners are immune. What if a city commissioner violates citizens’ constitutional rights in Florida by mandating vaccines, and an outraged lawyer (me) proves the constitutional violation in court? What happens to the Commissioners?
Nothing.

How about cops? Cops are immune. At least, they enjoy qualified immunity. What happens if a cop negligently mows down grandma while chasing a teenaged jaywalker at irrationally high speeds? Nothing. Immune.

For Heaven’s sake, the entire government is immune. It’s a concept called sovereign immunity. The only way ‘round sovereign immunity is when the government graciously de-immunizes itself by passing a law allowing certain types of claims against government officials. Otherwise, tough luck, starbuck.

Although his immunity produces extremely vexing results in many cases, it is just as necessary as other types of government immunity. The President is not even an ordinary government official. He’s an entire branch of government. Article II of the Constitution establishes the President as the Executive Branch.

Under the Constitution, the President enjoys powers exceeding those of any other government official, so it seems uncontroversial that he would also enjoy immunity exceeding that of any other government official.

I mean, through his pardon power, the President can even dish out immunity to anybody else, for any crime, no matter how horrible, even mislabeling checks. Why not himself?
Would I love to see Barack Hussein Obama tried for his crimes? A hundred percent. But that would open Pandora’s immunity box and start the political prosecution train going. Next stop, Banana Republic.

What to me was unaccountably absent from yesterday’s oral arguments was any discussion about the mountain of broad immunities already enjoyed by government and whether the President’s immunity should rest somewhere near, if not right at, the peak.

In other words, at minimum, a president should never have less immunity than every other government official. We put up with immunity so judges can rule without fearing personal consequences. We want Presidents to execute their duties boldly and decisively.

Nobody made that point yesterday.

What can I tell you? It’s a super strange year.” .......

Isaiah 60:

1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come,
and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
and gross darkness the people:
but the Lord shall arise upon thee,
and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light,
and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

"I didn't know it was possible for a human to die so horrifically, so quickly, before they rolled out the mRNA injections...[For] days, patients would be seizing, and no medications would stop it, and eventually they...kinda had to be put down." A hospital medical coder who goes only by "Zoe" for this interview describes for Children's Health Defense () the horrors she witnessed following the rollout of the COVID injections. Among the unthinkable, and deadly, illnesses were things like encephalitis, gangrene of the spine, blood clots, strokes, and multiple system organ failure. "I didn't know it was possible for a human to die so horrifically, so quickly, before they rolled out the mRNA injections...It was insane, I've never seen anything like that. The worst of them, they called it sepsis, but it was like instant multi-organ failure. Like, within hours patients would die of liver, lung, kidney... failure [all at once]..." Zoe tells CHD. She adds that "Some of the records...[from the] emergency crew that found them [the injection victims], it's like their body tried to reject everything and [in] some of these cases their family would be there 30 minutes before, and then within an hour they're dead." Zoe notes that "there were patients coming in with seizures like I'd never seen before," and that hospital staff "couldn't control some of them." The coder adds, "[For] days, patients would be seizing, and no medications would stop it, and eventually they...kinda had to be put down." "They called it encephalitis, or encephalopathy, and then later on, even the coding organization...[called it] COVID-19-associated encephalitis," Zoe says. "[T]he clots were insane," the coder notes. "Never seen clots like that before—even the interventional radiologists that were going in with...scopes where they can do heart interventions and do stents [a stent is a tube usually constructed of a metallic alloy or a polymer] in carotid artery (if you have a stroke going to your brain), normally it's rare to have more than one stent go in, and they were documenting...multiple locations all at once. They had heart attack cases that were like that where they needed massive amounts of stents that they never needed before." Zoe goes on to say that "There were people that were hiking in their 20s that were totally healthy, that had been running marathons, that suddenly needed a leg amputated because they had a massive blood clot going from their hip all the way down to their leg, and it couldn't be saved." "There were some cases of overnight spinal gangrene, which I'd never seen before," the coder adds. "And, you know, you can't amputate the spine when it goes gangrenous. Normally they cut out tissue that's dying like that so it prevents further infection and they didn't know what to do. The only thing they could do was...basically replace that part of [their] spine with an implant, that's the best they could do... It was really intense." As for doctors' responses to these horrors, Zoe says, "[they] were baffled, they weren't connecting the dots." However, she adds that "Knowing what the potential symptoms of a vaccine injury could be, we 100% had all the things I just described." Despite that knowledge, "doctors would never tell [patients] that. They would just say, 'It's a stroke. It's a heart attack. It's a blood clot.' And then they would never connect the two."

WCW Exposes Animal Lab Accidents at Home of New NIH-Funded EcoHealth Bat Lab — White Coat Waste Project

  • WCW has uncovered an alarming pattern of recent animal lab accidents at Colorado State University, which is working with the notorious EcoHealth Alliance and the NIH to build a new bat lab and breeding colony.
  • Never-before-seen records obtained by WCW show that from 2020 to 2023, dozens of animal lab accidents with bats, cats, hamsters, and mice exposed CSU staff to coronaviruses, Zika, rabies, Tuberculosis, and other dangerous pathogens that can cause deadly outbreaks.
  • Last year, WCW exposed how $12 million of taxpayers’ money is being wasted by CSU and EcoHealth to build a new lab and import hundreds of bats from Asia to establish a new breeding colony and infect them with deadly viruses, including Ebola and Nipah
  • The new bat lab at CSU is now scheduled to be completed in December 2024
Are you people mad?

The last time Mad Scientist Peter Dazak was allowed to run amok at Chapel Hill doing Gain-of-Function experiments for DARPA, he and his Chinese partners in Wuhan unleashed the COVID Virus on humanity, killing millions worldwide.

Followed up by the much more deadly Genetic Jab dishonestly called a "vaccine", which is still murdering and maiming victims today.

Globalists have a Depopulation Agenda and viruses and fake vaccines are a big part of it.

American Communists and Chinese Communists have teamed-up to form an American/ChiCom Uni-Government to keep both their Peoples oppressed. After all, who builds weapons together?

A: Allies.

I used to think #FakeGovernor Jared Polis was installed by his Soros Election Thief Jena Griswold. But now we KNOW he was.

Because no governor duly-elected by the People of Colorado would EVER allow the Feds to set up a new Wuhan Death Lab on the campus of CSU, endangering the lives of Coloradan citizens, wildlife and especially the prime of Colorado's youth.

Fauci's boy Peter Daszak is a Genocidal Maniac. He needs to take his slimy Death Germs and slink back to China, Washington D,C. or the pit of Hell--they're all about the same-- and get the hell out of Colorado.

Let me say it again:

GET YOUR LITERAL HELL OUT OF COLORADO, MONSTERS.

FDA Says U.S Milk Supply is Safe After Tests Reveal 20% of Samples Contain Avian Influenza Pathogen (Bird Flu) - The Last Refuge (theconservativetreehouse.com):

"It has long been accepted that the FDA doesn’t like people who avoid adulterating their body with genetically modified food products from the friendship of Big Ag and Big Rx; it’s a financial issue.  The FDA fully supports the genetic modification of food, the vaccine injections from Big Ag/Rx and the allowed use of animal growth hormones.

The food supply has long been considered an optimal pathway for vaccine delivery into the human body.  Much like the fluoride addition to municipal water supplies, the opportunity to enhance food with vaccines or DNA modification targeting has long been a goal." .......

Veterinarian Anthony Bourla invented Mad Cow by feeding brains to cows. For his accomplishment, he was made president of Pfizer, an outfit that poisons mothers breastmilk and murders children for money.

Some cows are fed chicken waste with Biden Bio-Lab(tm) Bird Flu, hence these readings.

Let me guess: next the FDA will push Biden Brand(tm) m-RNA Vaxx for chickens, cows and humans.

Psalm 89:

9 You rule the oceans when their waves arise in fearful storms; you speak, and they lie still. 10 You have cut haughty Egypt to pieces. Your enemies are scattered by your awesome power. 11 The heavens are yours, the world, everything—for you created them all. 12 You created north and south! Mount Tabor and Mount Hermon rejoice to be signed by your name as their maker! 13 Strong is your arm! Strong is your hand! Your right hand is lifted high in glorious strength.

14-15 Your throne is founded on two strong pillars—the one is Justice and the other Righteousness. Mercy and Truth walk before you as your attendants. Blessed are those who hear the joyful blast of the trumpet, for they shall walk in the light of your presence. 16 They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation and in your perfect righteousness. 17 You are their strength. What glory! Our power is based on your favor! 18 Yes, our protection is from the Lord himself and he, the Holy One of Israel, has given us our king.

19 In a vision you spoke to your prophet and said, “I have chosen a splendid young man from the common people to be the king— 20 he is my servant David! I have anointed him with my holy oil. 21 I will steady him and make him strong. 22 His enemies shall not outwit him, nor shall the wicked overpower him. 23 I will beat down his adversaries before him and destroy those who hate him. 24 I will protect and bless him constantly and surround him with my love; he will be great because of me. 25 He will hold sway from the Euphrates River to the Mediterranean Sea. 26 And he will cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and my Rock of Salvation.’

27 “I will treat him as my firstborn son and make him the mightiest king in all the earth. 28 I will love him forever and be kind to him always; my covenant with him will never end. 29 He will always have an heir; his throne will be as endless as the days of heaven. 30-32 If his children forsake my laws and don’t obey them, then I will punish them, 33 but I will never completely take away my loving-kindness from them, nor let my promise fail. 34 No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back one word of what I said. 35-36 For I have sworn to David (and a holy God can never lie) that his dynasty will go on forever, and his throne will continue to the end of time. 37 It shall be eternal as the moon, my faithful witness in the sky!”

You made covenant with our Fathers, Lord, and You keep all Your covenants, Father God, Hallelujah! Let Your Ocean of New Glory enfold our Old Glory, from sea to shining sea, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

* Can the Clinton/Rodham Crime Family be indicted by the Heber Springs City Attorney for selling Presidential Pardons like some cheap-ass cornpone corrupt Southern governor straight out of "Dukes of Hazzard", but without Catherine Bach's redeeming beauty?
You have your Confederate Monuments, I have mine.
US ATTY Jim Comey had cleared the Clinton/Rodham Gang in exchange for an FBI Directorship To be Named Later and a Fung Shui Souvenir Bag of Hillary's Toenail Clippings. However, LawFare has taught us that any case can be resurrected decades later out of thin air.

* Can current #ActingPresident Obama be arrested and frog-marched by Texas Rangers for his Summary Drone Execution of Fort Hood (now Fort Beau Bergdahl) clergyman Anwar al-Awlaki?

Obama silenced the American citizen because he was a loose end, having run "Dirty" Bob Mueller's FBI team of Saudi hirelings on Sept. 11, 2001.

Not to mention the 13 murders and 33 attempted murders of servicemen when Obama allowed al Awlaki to minister to Maj. Hassan online at the base.

* And finally, can duly reelected President Trump be given a life sentence in federal prison for double-parking the Beast after a reckless yet fictional joyride through the streets of Washington, D.C.?
