Trump is Right: Hillary Wants to Abolish the Second Amendment

“We’re gonna put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business--and then we're gonna "help" a lot of gun-owners and gun companies, too!"
‘I can’t believe that!’ said Alice.

‘Can’t you?’ the Queen said in a pitying tone. ‘Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes.’

Alice laughed. ‘There’s no use trying,’ she said: ‘one can’t believe impossible things.’

‘I daresay you haven’t had much practice,’ said the Queen. ‘When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”--Lewis Carrol, A
lice in Wonderland

""But that's not what I asked," Stephanopoulos interjected. "I said, do you believe that their conclusion that an individual's right to bear arms is a constitutional right?"

"If it is a constitutional right, then it, like every other constitutional right, is subject to reasonable regulations, and what people have done with that decision is to take it as far as they possibly can and reject what has been our history from the very beginning of the republic, where some of the earliest laws that were passed were about firearms," Clinton said, declining a second time to answer the question directly." ................

"If..."

It depends on what the meaning of 'if' is, eh? Typical Clinton.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

In 2008, she was able to say "People have a right to bear arms." But Clinton has been pushed so far to the left in this 2016 campaign that she can't even admit it anymore. That a thing called "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" listed in a thing called "The Bill of Rights" is, in fact, a right.

Her dodge: "Well, it's a group right, not an individual right."

Really? Then how about the 4th Amendment: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause..."

Is that a "group right" also? It says "people", too. She would never assert that a criminal didn't have an individual right against warrantless searches. Unless they made a video she didn't like. But usually, as a Democrat, she would support rights that tend to help criminals.

Next dodge: "Well, it's for the militia, not individuals".

I'll never forget the first time I heard the militia clause Left-'splained:

"The militia is not the people. The militia is the State Guard. And the State Guard is the State National Guard, And the State National Guard is the Federal National Guard. And the National Guard is the Federal Government. Therefore, the 2nd Amendment really means that the Federal Government and only the Federal Government has the Right to Keep and Bear Arms."

Which is the exact opposite of what it really means, explained the Queen to Alice.

The Left largely hates the Constitution because it contains two things:

Number 1: individual rights, which they hate with the possible exceptions of the right to pee in the street and screw on the sidewalks.

And Number 2: limitation on Government Power. That one they really hate. Why would you want to limit the power of the State when it is the source of all goodness, power, wisdom and free condoms? Sacrilege!

While they explain away the actual text of the Constitution, they will also use your respect for it to make you accept their judge-invented additions to it. They can't locate the right to bear arms, but abortion and gay marriage are right there, plain as day!

So when Donald Trump says "Hillary Clinton wants to take your guns away, and she wants to abolish the Second Amendment.",  the Usual 'Splainers explained it away:

Politifact:

Donald Trump falsely claims Hillary Clinton 'wants to abolish the 2nd Amendment'
"We asked the Trump campaign for evidence for this claim, but they didn’t get back to us. The Clinton campaign vehemently denied it. ... We found no evidence that Clinton has ever advocated for repealing or abolishing the Second Amendment."

Hate to break it to you, Politifact, but sometimes Politicians Have Agendas That They Hide From Voters! Shocking, I know.

I don't remember Richard Nixon promising voters that he would break into Democrat Headquarters at the Watergate, do you? Or Bill Clinton promising to treat the White House secretarial pool like the Love Grotto at the Playboy Mansion?

Do you remember the Clintons and Rodhams promising to buy and sell pardons like a gang of banana republic kleptocrats at the end of Bill's last term? Even Democrats were pissed about that--until it fell into the Memory Hole, Never To Be Mentioned Again In Polite Company. Hell, they won't even ask her about wearing a $13,000 Armani jacket to an inequality speech or her upcoming FBI interrogation, so who cares about the Great Pardon Fire Sale from Yesteryear?

Do you recall Barack Obama campaigning to be the Father of Iran's Nuclear Program? Yet he is. When he whispered to the Russian diplomat that he would bend over for Putin after he was re-elected, he was trying to hide it from the voters. Politifact: "We can find no evidence that Barack Obama will be Vladimir Putin's doormat if elected."

Hillary won't say you have a right to bear arms and she won't say she wants to abolish that right, either. But she wants to let every local jurisdiction pile on regulation upon restriction to effectively end it. And she wants to allow crippling lawsuits against manufacturers, gun shops, retailers, ammo makers, advertisers, shooting ranges and anyone even remotely related to gun commerce.

It would be like telling you that you have a right to automobile travel--but creating a successful lawsuit culture against car-makers, gas stations, road-builders, mechanics, tire dealers and racetracks. Every time a car crashed, or a shopping cart dinged your car in a parking lot or you got a parking ticket, massive lawsuits would kick in. You might have a theoretical right to automobile travel, but you would be walking.

She doesn't want to amend the Constitution. That would be the honest way, not the Clinton Way. She wants to abolish it--without her fingerprints on it.

Many a would-be dictator have choked on the fact that Americans are armed. Our Founders were counting on that--it's not a bug, it's a feature. As much as our God-given rights have been slandered and our legal rights diminished, imagine how much worse it would be if the people were disarmed.

Go Ask Alice. She'll tell you: Abolish Tyranny, not Freedom!

"Take your stinking paws off my Constitution, you damned dirty candidape!"
