McConnell just call the Actual President a "dumb son-of-a-bitch". And he's right.

We're all dumb because we grew up in High-Trust America.

So we presumed that the winners of elections would assume those offices.

We thought research and vaccines were made by disinterested medical professionals, not by corrupt politicized bureaucrats in overseas labs

We thought Free Speech was the assumption, not the exception.

We thought political prisoners were for other countries.

We thought "Equal Justice Under Law" was at least something to try for, not this Two-Tiered "Justice".

We thought our government opposed Chinese Communists, not worked for them.

We knew that our Free Press was liberal, but we didn't know they would abandon every last standard except punctuation

And I didn't hear anyone say a House Speaker would order her paramilitaries off the streets and to only appear as agent provocateurs in MAGA hatted-disguise to frame the Opposition Party. 

All that is gone now with High-Trust America.

We're not dumb anymore, Mitch.

But you're still a corrupt, money-grubbing, power-mad traitor.

"There is no financial benefit to preserving ancient freedoms, so the people in charge feel no duty to respect the rights of the people. Moral authority has been replaced with financial authority, which means all of the normal civic relationships are transactional.

A generation ago, Americans knew they would win the Cold War, because they were right about the moral depravity of communism. Such a system could not last. The Soviet system did collapse, because devoid of moral authority, the cost of maintaining it eventually exceeded the benefits of the system. By the end, no one could think of a reason to sacrifice for the system or the people running it.

Americans are quickly approaching the same decision. As long as the material benefits are not threatened, most are happy to remain in their cells. At some point, though, the number of people no longer able to tell the good guys from the bad guys, the white hats from the black hats, will reach a critical mass. The ruling regime is burning what is left of its moral authority to fuel its hold on power. When the tank runs dry, they will join the communists in the dustbin of history.".......
